Implementation intention
What it means
An implementation intention is a specific plan that states when, where and how you will act, usually in an if-then form: when I get home on Monday, I put on my running shoes. The concept comes from the psychologist Peter Gollwitzer, and studies have found it improves follow-through compared with simply intending to do something, because the decision is made in advance.
How to use it
Turn vague goals into sentences with a time and a place. Instead of exercise more, write on Monday at 7am, a run from the front door. Then put that sentence somewhere it will remind you.
Try it: what you write, what LifeOS does
- “every monday at 7am run from the front door” → Saved as your workout routine on Mondays at 7:00, and the daily plan keeps that slot free for it.
