Habit tracker
What it means
A habit tracker is any record of whether you did a habit on a given day: a grid of ticks on paper, marks on a calendar or an app. Seeing a run of completed days is motivating, and the gaps show where a routine is not working. The risk is tracking too much and spending more effort on the tracker than on the habits themselves.
How to use it
Track two or three habits at most, and tick them when you do them, not from memory at night. When you miss a day, aim never to miss two in a row. Once a habit runs on its own, stop tracking it.
Try it: what you write, what LifeOS does
- “every day at 9pm ten minutes of reading” → A daily reminder at 21:00; marking it done or skipped keeps an honest record without a separate tracker.
