Task paralysis
What it means
Task paralysis, sometimes called ADHD paralysis, is the state of knowing what you need to do but being unable to begin. It usually comes from overload: too many tasks with no obvious first step, a task that feels vague or huge, or fear of doing it badly. The longer it lasts, the more guilt adds to the weight.
How to use it
Shrink the choice. Pick one task, make the first step tiny and physical (put the form on the table) and give it five minutes. Hide the rest of the list until that step is done. A reminder at a set time can make the decision to start for you.
Try it: what you write, what LifeOS does
- “today at 4pm five minutes on the tax form” → An appointment today at 16:00 with a nudge: a fixed moment decides when to start, so you do not have to.
