Shutdown ritual
What it means
A shutdown ritual is the same short sequence you go through at the end of every workday to close it: check what is still open, write down anything unfinished, glance at tomorrow and then tell yourself that work is done. It gives your brain a clear signal that it can stop rehearsing tasks, which matters most when you work from home and no commute marks the end.
How to use it
Keep it to five or ten minutes at a fixed time. Capture every open loop in your system so it is not left in your head. Finish with a physical cue: closing the laptop, a short walk, changing clothes.
Try it: what you write, what LifeOS does
- “every day at 6pm shut down the workday” → A daily reminder at 18:00 that marks the end of work and keeps the ritual from slipping into the evening.
