Brain dump
What it means
A brain dump is the practice of emptying your head onto paper or a screen: every task, worry, errand and half-formed idea, as fast as you can and in no particular order. The goal is relief, not organisation. Open loops keep claiming attention even when you are not thinking about them; once they are written down, your mind can stop rehearsing them.
How to use it
Set a timer for ten minutes and write one line per item. Only when the timer ends do you sort: give a day and time to what needs one, drop what no longer matters and keep facts as facts. A short brain dump every week stops the pile from growing back.
Try it: what you write, what LifeOS does
- “tomorrow at 10am call the bank about the card” → Pulled out of the dump as an appointment for tomorrow at 10:00, placed in tomorrow's plan with a reminder.
