Decision fatigue
What it means
Decision fatigue is the idea that the quality of your choices declines after a long run of decisions, leading to impulsive picks or avoiding choices altogether. Researchers still debate how strong the effect is, but the everyday experience is familiar: by evening, deciding what to cook can feel much harder than it should.
How to use it
Move small decisions out of the moment. Plan the week's meals on Sunday, lay out clothes the night before, keep fixed days for recurring chores. Routines and defaults save your judgement for the choices that really matter.
Try it: what you write, what LifeOS does
- “every sunday at 5pm plan the week's meals” → A weekly reminder on Sundays at 17:00, so the what-do-we-eat question is settled once for the whole week.
