Inbox zero
What it means
Inbox zero is an approach to email coined by Merlin Mann. The real goal is not a permanently empty inbox but spending as little attention on it as possible. Each message gets one decision, to delete, archive, reply quickly, pass on or turn into a task, so the inbox stops acting as a second, messy to-do list.
How to use it
Process email in two or three fixed sessions a day rather than all day long. Anything that needs real work goes into your plan with a time, and the email gets archived. Unsubscribe from anything you never read.
Try it: what you write, what LifeOS does
- “every day at 11am process email” → A daily slot at 11:00 for email, so the inbox gets handled in one go instead of all day.
